I think thats a pretty sweet looking robot!  Sounds like its got some beefy motors!  Is it available with a diesel engine??? or what about E85 gas??  can it run on corn????  Or a steam engine??? I bet it could do a wheelie!    Does the robot have large talons???

Dear Jordan,

I’m a PhD student at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). I’m looking for a (cost effective) mobile robot for the teaching activities in our lab.

We can't spend much time in contructing a robot. So we think that the combination: iRobot Create and Gumstix is a very interesting solution.

But I can’t find any detailed information about the hardware configuration.

For example: I have seen that Gumstix has only 16Mb of flash memory. Have you bought also an additional flash memory in order to install GumsticOE linux?

First off, nice design! I'm using a similar hardware setup to power my robot (XL6P + Tweener + robostix). I like the idea of the ethernet connected webcam. For my project I needed a completely autonomous robot, and one of the bonus' of the Verdex was the on-board USB host controller the XL6P has on it. After trying a number of times to get a USB connection from the 24-pin connector, I gave up. However, building a USB port for the gumstix using the tweener proved very simple and worked extreamly well. The pinout for the 60-pin connector on the tweener should be on the wiki somewhere, got the host signals from there and I used the robostix for the +5v and ground (among other things). Keep us posted!
